We recently had a problem when a contractor ignored the warning signs and
carried an acetylene tank into one of our open access NMR labs. The magnet
grabbed the tank and we ended up with a quenched magnet. We are
contemplating the option to install a metal detector on the lab entrance. I
heard there are metal detectors installed in clinical MRI lab. I am
wondering if someone could share some info on the implementation of such
system and whether there is any interference with high resolution NMR?
