I wish to thank the numerous AMMRL'ers who shared their valuable experiences
and insights in responce to my recent posting.
I will not waste time or bandwidth with the details of how the solution was
found. If you need the particulars of the diagnostics that led to the
solution I'll be happy to share them with you. Just send me a request.
Numare Spectralab has an AC-200 NMR system with an Aspect 3000 computer
system. The Aspect is connected to a PC computer (Cyrix DX2-50 MHz
(actually, 52.4 MHz) processor) via NMRLINK. The connection is from the
Aspect parallel port to the PC NMRLINK card. The PC and Aspect NMRLINK are
verson 940701.
When NMRLINK is evoked on the Aspect 3000, the spurious peak appears in the
13C spectral data. When NMRLINK is terminated, the spurious peak disappears.
Note: Since the time that I installed NMRLINK I have noticed the following
unexplained behaviour on the PC. When I do file transfers from the
Aspect to the PC, the PC clock goes into suspended animation during
the transfer. This always happens. It is as if the Aspect clock
overrides the PC clock during the transfer and the PC clock regains
control after the transfer is complete.
