I have a Varian XL-300 (actually, I have two, but only one is of
concern as this juncture) with an R2D2 magnet. It seems the vacuum
fitting that goes between the magnet and my pumping station has
sprouted legs and walked away (ok, it was probably stolen...).
Anyways, I need one of these fittings (T-shaped, has a knurled knob
on it to turn the valve on the magnet...). If anyone ANYONE has one
of these that they can lend me (or give, I could handle that, too),
I would be forever beholden to them.
The alternative is to do LN2 fills twice weekly (at the present boiloff
rate), and lHe maybe every 3-4 weeks until it quenches and scares the
heck out of whatever poor grad student is using it at the time.
I have big "NO VT" and "THIS SUCKER IS GONNA QUENCH" signs on it. I am
also encouraging people to wear Depends undergarments because they're
gonna s**t when it goes...
