Dear All,
The vertical arm on a BACS-60 recently stopped functioning properly. We have determined that the issue is with the pneumatic arm (currently running by taking the arm off of our other BACS 60…)
1) Does anyone have a spare BACS-60 arm they are willing to part with?
2) Has anyone replaced/repaired the piston inside the arm?
What we observe is difficulty of travel in one direction (up) when all pneumatic hoses connected.
If we disconnect the hose at the inlet for the opposite direction the arm moves up and a rush air exits that inlet (thus it appears to be acting as an outlet). It appears to us as though the piston is not sealing properly and compressed air is leaking around to opposite side of the piston thus stopping it from moving under normal function. The piston appears to be made of several components which are epoxied together. I assume the (copper?) ring in the centre of the piston provides the seal and would be the source of the leak. Have any of you replaced/repaired this piston (see attached jpg) inside of the arm? Does anyone have any information/tips on how to go about finding a replacement and/or opening and remaking our own ?
Thank you,
Pedro
