I'm posting this for a colleague here at the CCRC - please contact Dr. Parastoo Azadi (azadi_at_uga.edu) for further information.

The Analytical Service and Training Laboarory (ASTL) at the University of Georgia's Complex Carbohydrate Research Center is looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our growing team. Our work combines 1D and 2D NMR and mass spectrometry tools to elucidate the structure of complex polysaccharides and glycoproteins from plant, bacteria and animal sources. This position will provide the candidate with the opportunity to collaborate with scientist from universities, research institutes and industry using various analytical techniques for structural characterization. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics or a related discipline. Extensive background in biomolecular NMR or NMR method development is required. Our projects will include using a combination of techniques for isolation and purification of complex glycans prior to characterization by NMR and MS techniques.

The Complex Carbohydrate Research Center has outstanding resources for high-field NMR spectroscopy, including 900 MHz, 800 MHz, four 600 MHz and 500 MHz spectrometers. These spectrometers are equipped with variety of probes including a HRMAS probe for solid sate analysis and several cryoprobes (both H-CN , and C,N-H) dedicated to biomolecular NMR applications. In addition the ASTL is also equipped with a Fusion LTQ-ESI-MS, Elite-LTQ ESI-MS, 5800 MALDI-TOF-TOF, Bruker autoflex MALDI-MS mass spectrometers, CE and several HPLC, GC-MS instruments.

To apply: Please send your current CV and a list of three reference contacts to Dr. Parastoo Azadi (azadi_at_uga.edu)
