AMMRL: JEOL or no JEOL at 500 MHz for biochemists & chemists?

Hello Ammrl,

Our site is considering acquisition of a 500 MHz console upgrade with two room-temperature probes from JEOL. This is a new company to us: we have had Varian InovaPlus with an Oxford magnet for ~12 years.

Can anyone with knowledge of JEOL's instruments and style/practices of customer service/support comment on their PROs and CONs?

Any specific concerns about JEOL for chemists and biochemists?
Reliability/quality of the instrumentation?
Software: does it have a full complement of the heteronuclear experiments?

Should we happily embrace JEOL (pricing is attractive!) or run away from it?

Thanks in advance!
