Basic qualifications:
Requires a PhD in Organic or Analytical Chemistry, along with hands-on NMR experience as it applies to small molecule structure elucidation. A Master's degree in a related field along with extensive relevant NMR experience will also be considered.
- Demonstrated expertise in modern NMR pulse sequence programming.
- Expertise in automated sample preparation, data acquisition and analysis.
- Expertise in NMR software/hardware installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
Preferred qualifications:
™ 10 years of NMR experience in structure elucidation from biological matrices, preferably characterization of metabolites from xenobiotics
- An understanding of MS methods and data interpretation as well as chromatographic separations is also desired.
Details:
Principal Duties:
•Provide knowledge and expertise in NMR, structure elucidation and reaction mechanisms to support development of drug candidates from First Time in Human to post-marketing.
•Provide expertise and knowledge to enhance and expand NMR experimental approaches in metabolite structure elucidation including tailored approaches to meet the specific needs of development programs.
•Provide technical and scientific creativity in resolving non-routine issues associated with SID studies
•Provide knowledge and expertise in proposing reaction mechanism for metabolite formation.
•Serve as a mentor to the structure elucidation team in developing scientific expertise in the area of NMR.
•Lead the strategic innovation in NMR techniques to support PCD DMPK globally
Candidate Specifications:
•Educated and trained in Pharmaceutical or Chemical Sciences and meeting required experience requirements
•Possess an in-depth understanding of NMR and structure elucidation; demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge specifically to the structural elucidation of small molecules and drug metabolites; demonstrated ability to deliver this scientific knowledge within and beyond this scientific discipline.
•The ability to integrate spectroscopic and other scientific data into the processes of structure elucidation and reaction mechanisms.
•Has the demonstrated ability to innovate in solving challenging problems.
•Flexible thinking in creating options and solutions required.
•Demonstrated excellence in both oral and written communication.
•Successful record of influencing, mentoring and developing colleagues.
•Ability to proactively build networks and relationships that instill confidence, trust and teamwork.
•Experience with the overall drug development process, including GLP requirements.
