Hi all,
I also missed the ENC this year, but also do not think an event for
potential managers would be useful. One thing I have learned from
meetings, and from this list, is that there is no one 'correct' way to
run a facility.
Every facility has a different combination of instrumentation, user
needs, faculty expectations and technical expertise. By which I mean
things like mixtures of spectrometer types, degree of centralization of
instruments, use of automation versus manual operation, network access
to data, etc.
Use of this list and of searching NMR facility web pages allows people
new to the field to find a facility which has commonality with their
own. I'm sure that most of use are happy to pass on advice on how and
why we operate in the way we do. Going straight to the source for this
information means that it is up to date.
Regards,
Phil.
