Hi all,
We have a Mercury-300 with a Sun Blade 150 as host; VNMRJ 1.1d is
installed on the system, which runs total automation in Walkup mode.
The Blade 150 is really marginal in its ability to run this system, so
we are looking to upgrade the host computer. Unfortunately, Sun is no
longer offering Blade 1500s, so we are having to decide between
purchasing a 1500 in the reseller market, or moving to a PC Linux host.
I would definitely choose Linux if we had a newer version of VNMRJ for
the Mercury. But for the time being, the only compatible version is
1.1d. I know the issues (many) of 1.1d running under Solaris, and am
therefore reluctant to move to Linux. But it would help to hear from
those of you that have experience with 1.1d+Linux; if it's working well
for you, that might change my mind. All inputs will be much appreciated.
