sorry for the late response. ENC is on and it just makes it difficult to
keep up with things.

The thing with the different temperature ranges is relatively easy to
resolve. Time is really the factor that controls it all.

The probe range of -150 to +180 can fully be used. After a while at very
high temperature the probe will start warming up the shimsystem and
eventually reach it; smaximum temperature of 80 C. The the shims will
all shut down. The 0 to 50 range for the flange is becoming critical
when the hot shimsystem now starts affecting the bore. That sually does
not happen for many hours or even days.

The cooling ring is a simple device that allows you to blow down air
along the shim system. This usually keeps it cold enough to keep running
at 130 - 150 C for extended periods of time.

In other words if you only plan to run at over +150 degrees for a short
time (i.e. 2 - 3 hours) you should be ok.

There is a option somewhere in the BSMS tools that allows you to read
the shim temperature ( I thin kit is in BSMStools --> shim system
functions.)

I hope this helps
