Dear Fellow AMMRL Members:

This year, just before (and during) ENC, several things occurred
pertaining to AMMRL.

First, our good friend and colleague Ben Bangerter, at Yale University,
has stepped down from his role as a charter member of the AMMRL Steering
Committee. As part of his early and ongoing leadership, Ben setup and
maintained the original AMMRL website at Yale. On behalf of the AMMRL
membership, the Steering Committee thanks Ben for his service and
commitment to our community.

For now, I have copied the essential information (and appearance) of
Ben's website onto my web server (where the email archives are
maintained) until we decided on a permanent solution for an AMMRL
web-presence. I wish to personally thank Ben for being such a key part
of the core group that moved AMMRL from an idea to a reality.

Secondly, and related to the whole website business, Rainer Haessner has
graciously accepted the Steering Committee's invitation to fill the
vacancy left by Ben's departure. Unlike the early days of AMMRL, the
membership is truly global in scope, and it makes sense for the Steering
Committee to become more global as well. If you wish to see who is on
the steering committee, see www.ammrl.org/steer.html .

With that segue (ammrl.org), during the ENC in Savannah Rainer pointed
out to me that most "ammrl" internet domains were available. In almost
no time, Rainer had reserved the "ammrl.org" domain, which we can now
use. Currently, ammrl.org (or www.ammrl.org ) will take you to my main
AMMRL website here at Colorado. In addition, if you wish, you can send
email to ammrl_at_ammrl.org instead of ammrl_at_chemnmr.colorado.edu . Either
address will (should) work identically; however, in the long term the
ability to re-direct ammrl_at_ammrl.org will make it less of a headache to
move the mail services (should that become necessary).

That's all for now.

Best Wishes,

-Rich Shoemaker, AMMRL Steering Committee and E-Mail facilitator
