Dear Stephanie,
You could perhaps have a safety demo using
- a chain (e.g., taped, joined paper clips) showing the presence of the
magnetic field lines around the magnet,
- let people try to move a small (solid) aluminium plate near the magnet,
and another with slots to stop the Eddy currents.
- Try to hold a small scissor (attached to a rope and held firmly by the
demonstrator) near the magnet.
- Also the manufacturers of MR-scanners have videos showing various tools
flying about the magnet, demonstrating the forces involved near magnets.
