We have a QE-300 which is our main NMR instrument, and it is used for
both research and undergraduate instruction. We were preparing a
grant proposal for NSF-CCLI to upgrade our QE-300. The PI had
invested several days into it when we found that the AQUERIUS upgrade
is to be discontinued by Tecmag this summer. Our options at this
point are:
1. Use the QE as is until one of the critical parts, which Bruker
cannot replace, quits.
2. Find full internal funding (about 30k), which I am sure my dean
would love, to purchase the Tecmag upgrade before it is discontinued.
3. Submit a grant proposal for, or buy, a new console, for which the
total cost would be 3-5 times that of the Tecmag upgrade.
Anybody have other helpful suggestions?
