Everyone:
I have received the following question from a physics professor at our University. Please let me know if anyone has any good ideas about this. Thank you- Susan Nimmo
The question: Is there a straightforward way a junior/senior student can model the coherent spin physics in a spin echo experiment to find T2 and he inversion recovery to find t1?
I am teaching the Physics Advanced Lab course. Because the students can not get in the lab I am having them model the experiments to the extent that they can. One of the experiments is pulsed NMR, where the students measure t1 and t2 of mineral oil. We do not have chemical shift resolution, but shimming the magnet is critical to get he pulse sequences to work. We are at 20-21 MHz.
Is there a straightforward way a junior/senior student can model the coherent spin physics in a spin echo experiment to find T2 and he inversion recovery to find t1? Modeling the exponential decays is not what I am after. That does not teach anything about pulsed NMR.
