AMMRL: question: user with metal implant

Hello all, I searched for this in ammrl archives, but didn't find an exact match, so if this topic has already been covered in recent past, my apologies for repetition. A PI contacted me about a prospective new NMR user who has a metal implant (rod in skull, reportedly). PI is wondering about safety precautions: can this user approach instrument, etc.

We have a Bruker Avance III Ultrashield Plus 400 MHz. I have been told 5 Gauss line is inside the can of the magnet. We have a BACS-60 autosampler, so a user could load a sample from a few feet away from the magnet. A few different recommendations (no entry in NMR room, entry in room but no approach closer than far side of autosampler, or no restrictions on approach) might be envisioned. Knowing nothing about the implant, I am inclined to a conservative approach, since this aligns with our vendor's door placards about magnet safety. I'll probably tell the PI I recommend someone else run the user's samples. This was the policy for a colleague of mine with a metal skull implant in my distant past (AC days - much less shielding!). Nevertheless, given the changes in magnet systems since that time, I thought I would open the topic to other suggestions or feedback.
