DNP Application Scientist
Bruker BioSpin
New opportunity with the Bruker BioSpin Team based in Billerica, MA for
an Applications Scientist to focus on the development of solid-state DNP
(Dynamic Nuclear Polarization) applications to promote the DNP market.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and host instrumentation and applications demonstrations.
- Establish and maintain external collaborations for biological and
material science applications.
- Visit customer sites, attend scientific conferences, and participate
in scientific publications. Perform high level demonstrations of the DNP
spectrometer and applications.
- Provide expert training to DNP customers and visitors.
- Manage scientific collaborations including initial discussion of
sample preparation, hosting collaborator visits or performing DNP
experiments on collaborator samples, analysis and reporting of the
acquired data, and follow-up discussion.
- Oversee the DNP demonstration lab in Billerica including spectrometer
scheduling and reporting, instrument maintenance and upgrades. Maintain
high quality visitor space.
-Work with Marketing & Communications group on DNP marketing material
and strategy.
-Assist probe development and repair groups in final testing of
low-temperature DNP/NMR probes.
- Work with Hyperpolarization group on testing of novel microwave and
low temperature probe components.
- Provide support to DNP application and service engineers in the field.
- Interface with EPR group on characterization of DNP samples and
polarizing agents.
- Ensure continual awareness of developments in the field, including
attendance and presentations at scientific conferences. Prepare
scientific presentations for user workshops and conference.
- Perform other duties as required.]
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or Physics.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience and considerable expertise in magic
angle spinning solid-state NMR with state of the art methods for
biological applications.
- Direct work experience with DNP instrumentation and applications desired.
- Proven experience managing scientific collaborations with a high degree of
scientific credibility and ability to discuss and/or persuade at an
academic level.
- Excellent verbal, written, computer, and technical communication,
organizational,
and presentation skills, including MS Office and fluency in English.
- A self-motivated professional with demonstrated ability to multi-task,
prioritize,
and work independently within a focused team and rapidly changing work
environment.
- Ability to maintain valid passport with flexibility for domestic or
international
travel.
- Valid Driver License in good standing, issued by resident state or
governing
location.
- May be required to pass security clearance investigation.
