Hi Everyone;
Our Varian (now Agilent) 400MR spectrometer has DualProtune and an SMS-50 sample changer so
walkup users can use it in automation mode. We are running Red Hat 5.3, VnmrJ 3.2, and have the
3.2ApsgLNXall102 patch installed. Our current problem is with the SMS-50 sample changer; after
retrieving a sample and putting it in the tray, it will sometimes crash, remaining above that
sample, and does not load the next sample, or sample#50 which is in the magnet when no
experiment is running. On at least one occasion someone submitted a new sample when it
was in this state. The sample-changer arm went to the magnet to retrieve the sample, but
there was none of course; it beeped, and then moved to a position between the trays and
the magnet. It is easy to resume the automation run, but of course you have to be there and
know that it has crashed……Has anyone seen anything like this? More to the point, does
anyone know how to remedy this problem?
