NMR Instrumentation Scientist

Agilent Technologies is a global, diversified technology company, with
19,000 people focused on creating instruments for the communications,
electronics and life sciences industries.

Agilent Laboratories, the corporate research center for Agilent
Technologies, is seeking a candidate with a strong background in NMR
instrumentation development. We are located on Agilent's main campus in
Santa Clara, CA in the heart of the dynamic Silicon Valley.

Agilent Laboratories provides a lead in developing new technologies for
commercialization. In recent years, contributions to the Life Science and
Chemical Analysis fields have included: Atomic Force Microscopy, DNA
microarray technologies, polymer based microfluidics, Time-of-Flight mass
spectrometer technologies, bioinformatics and Systems Biology technologies.
Researchers at Agilent Laboratories typically work on exploring and
developing new technologies which are three to seven years into the future.

Agilent Laboratories is a diverse and dynamic environment with researchers
from all disciplines which touch on measurement science, including but not
limited to: theoretical physics, material science, microfabrication, high
speed electronics, high frequency measurement, sensor networks, nucleic acid
chemistry, bioinformatics, microfluidics, Systems Biology, nanoscale
measurements, optical spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. Within such an
environment, a successful candidate must enjoy working in multidisciplinary
teams.

In this role you must be able to develop instrumentation for NMR based
methods which dramatically impact speed, sensitivity, resolution, cost or
add additional capabilities. In addition, you must be able to establish
relationships research groups developing technologies impacting NMR
instrumentation. You must be well versed in the operation and interaction of
all components in a NMR system. Experience with Varian NMR systems is a
plus.

Qualifications

* Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry or Electrical Engineering

* Minimum of 5 years of post graduate experience

* Experience in developing NMR instrumentation

* Experience with novel NMR detection systems

* Experience with high field (>750 MHz) NMR systems

* A minimum of 5 years of developing instrumentation to improve NMR
performance or extend the range of applications

Desired

* NMR probe design experience

* Experience with MRI systems

* Multiple peer reviewed publications

* Experience with Varian NMR systems.

Agilent will not sponsor work authorization for this position
