Dear all,
I am looking for an ACQ CPU for Gemini 2000. I am wondering if someone has a
spare one that could donate or lend to us.
The situation of our Gemini 2000 are:
1) Sun Ultra10 workstation (Solaris 8 with VNMR6.1C and the latest patch
installed) cannot control the console. The acqstat showed "inactive". I could
ping "wormhole" which mean 2nd ethernet is good and I could also ping "gemcon"
so that the ethernet card in console is responding.
2) I cannot see the booting procedure of console CPU through a NULL modem cable
which connected Sun serial port B to ACQ CPU serial port by using "tip
hardwire". The switch 402 1st position was flipped off during this process.
Excepting the possibility of the dead ACQ CPU, there are two things I will
also double check check:
a) using a laptop as the terminal to monitor the ACQ CPU boot. (ruling out the
possibility of the problem on serial port of Sun Ultra station. It is not
likely the case because I tried both port A and B by editing /etc/remote file.
b) check the master clock 20 MHz in the console. Varian engineer point out
that "inactive" could be caused by absent of master clock frequency.
Any other suggestions?
