Spinwatchers,
UMass will be moving into the realm of RedHatLinux/xwinnmr in a few
months with the arrival of our AVANCE400 and conversion
of our existing SGI-driven DPX300 to PC.
In anticipation of this I have looked through the AMMRL
archives for Linux NMR-Use Accounting experience and find none
listed. For the SGIs I have worked out a very efficient procedure for
dealing with the NMR billing via the 'last' command and
EXCEL sorting, filtering and subtotaling our 34 user-groups
and 150 users. I am hoping Linux offers something similar to 'last'.
Prowling through my recently bought book: LINUX('Rute user's tutorial..:
Sheer)
it is not clear if there is a 'last' command or log of login/out files
comparatble
to wmtp for accounting....or if there is a 'last' command does it do the
same login/out listing?
I would be happy to hear about anybody's experience with direct
RedHatLinux accounting of logins/outs. (I am aware that there is
a lot of commerical Linux accounting $oftware available.)
If sufficient interest, I will post.
Peace --- a living hope in trying times
