Hi,
I am a little bit late with my summary.
Here are three reponses:
a)
For advanced NMR students on the PhD NMR course I run most
of my example spectra are all of 1-dehydrotestosterone - the
majority of signals are well separated ( H17) but there's enough
overlap of the ring signals (H16's, H15's etc) to illustrate the use of
COSY /TOCSY, HMQC/HMBC, and the molecules rigid enough for
good NOESY/ROESY spectra ( 250 - 400 MHz).
b)
what i have done for our teaching is to go through the Aldrich
catalog and pick 25 compounds..from fairly simple 5 carbon to 15
carbon molecules with enough protons to show connectivity. Most
can be bought in small quantity for $5-10_at_.
Some of the nicer small molecules are:
- gamma-caprolactone
- delta-valerolactam
- gamma-valeolactam
- proline
- in the C-10 or so class are
- butyl nicotinate
- gamma-terpene
- menthol
- 2-(2-propoxytethyl)pyridine
- trans-cinnamic acid
- citronellol
c)
Ben Shoulders provided me a pointer to his
hidden treasure. A complete ready to use set
of spectra, very well suited for educational purposes.
Here the original URL:

With the permission of Ben I prepared a mirror with a
somewhat modified arrangement of the data, which is located
at
http://www.nmr.de/html/library/benspect.htm
BTW: PowerArchiver available from this URL is a very
nice (and free) clone of a very popular packer program.
