Summary of Position:
The Minnesota NMR Center at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities is
seeking an NMR Spectroscopist to join the MNMR staff. The NMR
Spectroscopist will be responsible for maintenance and operation of
spectrometers for solution and solid-state NMR, acquiring and interpreting
multidimensional NMR spectra, implementing new experimental techniques, and
providing technical training and guidance to University researchers and
external customers. As a University-wide internal service organization, the
MNMR is dedicated to serving the NMR-based research needs of the University
and providing education in the implementation of NMR techniques to
biomedical research. MNMR houses eight high-field NMR spectrometers and
provides support for five other NMR spectrometers on campus. Please see

Essential and Other Functions:
50% Operate and Maintain NMR Spectrometers
Routine and non-routine maintenance of instruments in the Minnesota NMR
Center. Includes instrument performance verification, troubleshooting and
repair, cryogen fills, interfacing with vendors for tech support, parts
orders, scheduling service.
40% Support MNMR Users
Train researchers to use NMR instruments. Participate on a team of
instructors for Practical NMR Workshops. Provide ongoing assistance with
experimental design, experimental setup, data processing and interpretation
of NMR data for biological and chemical applications. Service analysis and
consultation.
10% Support day-to-day operations
Assist, as needed, with tasks necessary to keeping the NMR center running,
including documentation, housekeeping, facility tours, etc.
