Dear Walter et al,

Thank you for the sad news of the passing of Richard Ernst.

We in the NMR Community do indeed owe much to the persistent intelligence,
brilliance, humanity, and kind generosity of the man. I very happily
remember a relatively long and indulgent conversation that Richard afforded
me at the first poster I defended at an Experimental NMR Conference ENC in
Asilomar, California. It was kind of him and more importantly corrected
thoughts I had on linear prediction theory and application in ways that
renewed the excitement I had for areas of this special branch of science we
love and share. May he be well.
