The global price index (BLM) has increased from 2018 to 2019 and the sale price has increased by 47% YOY. The auction price increased by 135% YOY and the source renewals are up 45% and 77% YOY. We pay about 55 NZD per liter in New Zealand. Certainly a huge concern as many new NMR installations are conducted in China and India. Hence we are installing a helium recycling system and the system will pay for itself within 5 years.

Well unfortunately “it” just hit the fan for me – my latest invoice doubled to $25/L from what it was on an order just two weeks earlier.
My vendor told be that BML overnight had raised its price by 147%.
My budget for FY20 is blown is before it starts!
