I regret to inform you that Prof. William Ritchey died this past week. He came to be a mentor, friend, advisor and even like a second father to many of us. Many of you know of him as the founder of the ENC. He organized the first meeting in 1959 and played a role in organizing some of the early conferences.
His family submitted an obituary to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, so you should be able to find more details there. What I was able to download is shown at the bottom of this email.

RITCHEY DR. WILLIAM M. RITCHEY (prof. emeritus Case Western University) Born June 2 1925 in Mt. Vernon OH, age 88, Died June 1 2014. Beloved Father of Steve (Carlynn Canny), Joe (Darlene), and Mark (Gail) Ritchey Step Father of Marilyn Galambush, Michael (Darlene), Nancy, Julie (Robert Goler), and Andrew (Virginia) Galambush; Grandfather of James, Timothy (Rachel), John (Mandy), Joshua, Courtney and Evan Ritchey, Tenor (Rachel), Janet (Ryan McManus), Aaron Goler, Catherine, Emily, and Paul Galambush, great-grandfather of Gavin Ritchey, Johnstone Galambush, Brady and Ava McManus. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife Minetta Jane Ritchey (née Hoover) and second wife Mary Ellen Ritchey (Galambush). Calling Hours will be from 2 PM - 4 PM JUNE 20, at FIORITTO FUNERAL HOME, 5236 Mayfield Rd., Lyndhurst, OH 44124, and a memorial service on June 21st at 1:00 PM at Faith United Church of Christ, 575 Richmond Rd, Richmond Heights, OH 44143.
