The Chemistry Department at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is
seeking an Instrumentation
Operations Specialist, mainly to oversee and manage the upkeep,
training, and supervision of NMR and
Mass Spectrometric instrumentation in the department. The department
currently has a JEOL ECA 600
MHz NMR spectrometer, and a Bruker Avance 300 MHz NMR spectrometer and a
JEOL time-of-flight
mass spectrometer, model JMS-T100DART Accu TOF-D, with liquid
chromatography and ESI capability.
The successful candidate will work with faculty, postdocs and students
on the design and development
of experiments and interpretation of results for research and teaching
and will be expected to
participate in proposal writing and coordination for external funds for
equipment acquisitions. The
minimum requirements for the position are an MS degree and 3-5 years
experience, but a PhD is highly
desirable. The department is interested in attracting a dynamic and
resourceful individual with a very
broad knowledge of instrumentation and a proven record of success. A
