Hello everyone,
What are your experiences with using XR sample cooler (-80C) model and
house compressed air? The specs say air inlet should have dew point of
-100C, but I don't know what the dew pt of our house air is. We have a
chiller immediately downstream of the air compressor, and a Balston PSA
dryer, so technically we SHOULD be at around -100C if things are working
right. Historically I've only used nitrogen gas to supply the unit
however - mainly because its use was infrequent. But now considering
more regular use, there is the the expense/inconvenience of always
having to have N2 on hand.
So realistically, is the Balston treated air sufficiently dry for the
FTS unit? If I should go ahead and try using the cooler with the house
air, what symptoms should I look indicating water condensing in the
system - presumably gradually lower output, and inability to control
temperature? Any short term risk to the cooler if it ices up?
Thanks in advance for your comments!
Neal
