Dear all AMMRL Members:
I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge, and give a huge THANK YOU to the
person that is in large part responsible for our organization, and its
success.
Rudi Nunlist will retire from the University of California at Berkeley at
the end of this month. For those of you who do not know, Rudi was one of
the original people who conceived the idea of AMMRL, and who setup the first
email list-server and email archiving system for AMMRL in 1993. Though I
took the helm in 1997 (until last year, when the baton was passed to Walt
Niemczura), I would never have been able to get it setup at the University
of Nebraska without Rudi's kind help, patience, and assistance. Some who
know Rudi might laugh at my use of the word "patience" (but I was serious
<grin>), but truly Rudi is an amazing person who's talents have often gone
unnoticed and unacknowledged.
There are no words that can do justice to what Rudi has meant to this
organization since even before its inception. We ALL owe Rudi a tremendous
Thank You, and I just want to wish him the best in his retirement.
Rudi still plans to say active in the NMR community in the role of
consultation, and continuing to develop and support his LinRL scheduling
package. If you need an excellent package for NMR scheduling and control,
you should seriously look into Rudi's system. We don't allow "advertising"
on AMMRL, but if anyone has ever deserved an exception to this "rule" it is
Rudi.
Rudi, thank you for everything. You've been a wonderful friend, colleague,
and mentor in so many ways.
Sincerely,
-Rich Shoemaker
