The AMMRL survey I conducted last year, "Business/Funding Models of
U.S. & Canadian Academic NMR Facilities," provides a more recent
glimpse into the relationship between user fees and staff salaries.

The report examines data from 43 public ("state-supported") and 10
private ("independent") institutions. Please see Figure 6 (for all
facilities) and Figure 12 (for comparison of public and private
facilities).
