If I may add my comments to this discussion.
A warning notice is displayed on our NMR lab door and the magnets in the
four most commonly spoken languages here (Hebrew, English, Arabic and
Russian - contact me if you want a copy).We have a magnetic card lock on the
NMR room (even though we have to replace magnetic cards that get wiped by
the magnets on occasions) that only authorized people can get in. This
includes one cleaner who has been specially trained and uses
nonferromagnetic cleaning equipment supplied by us. Our NMR lab is cleaned
every working day. We (I and the other staff here) believe that cleanliness
is important to prevent dust buildup in the instruments especially as we
live in a fairly dusty climate.
