Principal Scientist - Analytical Development (NMR and Solid State Properties)
Job Overview:
Report to Manager, Analytical Development.
Supervise two bench scientists.
Roche Carolina is a drug substance process development and manufacturing
site within Roche Group, a global pharmaceutical company.
Job Requirements:
Ph.D. in Chemistry with 3-8 years experience in pharmaceutical or fine
chemical industry. Extensive training and experience in NMR technology
with an emphasis on structure elucidation using Varian's instruments.
Working knowledge in all spectroscopic techniques (FT-IR, FT-NIR, UV,
etc.) and solid state properties determinations (particle size, thermal
analysis, XRD, microscopy). Ability to use results from a variety of
analytical techniques for process troubleshooting and support.
Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
Job functions:
Lead structure elucidation for known and unknown compounds using NMR and
other analytical techniques.
Lead analytical activities in process and production troubleshooting.
Develop and validate solid state and spectroscopic methods for drug
substance release testing.
Organize and analyze data, write reports, and present to local and
global colleagues within the company.
Analyze samples (GMP and non-GMP) as needed.
Maintain and troubleshoot NMR, XRD, and other instruments.
Supervise the technical/scientific work and development of associates.
Maintain lab in compliance with all company safety and environmental
standards.
