EIDE drives for UltraSPARC - summary

Colleagues:
        Thanks for the quick and helpful response. From what I gathered, this the
"scoop" on EIDE drives and UltraSPARC:

        a) PC-compatible EIDE drives are fine, but a special cable is needed if
one is going to hook up 2;
        b) Solaris 7 will only support drives up to 30 Gigabytes (40 according to
TAC). For larger drives, upgrade to Solaris 9 (I don't know about Solaris 8);
        c) For drives > 8 Gigabytes, make sure your bios is up to date (See SUN site).

Once again, thanks for your help!

Bill

Colleagues:
        Has anyone installed a generic EIDE drive into their UltraSPARC? I would
rather use off-the-shelf drives rather than SUN's X drives.

Thanks,
Bill
