I am really happy to get prompt responses form many of you .
Can any one advise me or guide me as to how to convert our data system to a
modern PC or work station? Our data system config is given below.
Instrument -JEOL GSX-400 (narrow bore), PDP LSI 11/73 computer with 8"
floppy drive(!!!), SCSI interface with 3 Hard disks totalling to 1 GB
space, 640 MB cartridge tape drive (uses DC-600A cartridge tapes), HP 7550
8-pen plotter etc. No DECnet or Ethernet. OS - RSX-11M
M/s.JEOL has some upgrades available but are very expensive. So if some
can suggest some cheaper solution, at least to transfer the spectral
data (GXD and GXP files from the PDP computer to a PC or work station) if
not to replace the PDP computer, then I can use MESTREC or some free
software to process the data in a PC/workstation.
