Hi all,
To the Sun/Varian users:
I just brought a SunBlade 100 online as host to our Inova 400.
There were a couple of quirks in the setup but it's working just fine. For
this system I went ahead and bought the recommended SunSwift (X1032A)
ethernet/SCSI card to play it safe but I have 2 more new systems neither of
which need the external SCSI port. The X1033A is the obvious choice but
there must be something about, oh say, about $500 cheaper. I searched
through the archives and found this same question asked on several occasions
but no answers. Is there still no less expensive solution?
Also, for an Ultra5 as host on a Unity+ console. Varian recommends
their active terminator "kit" ($324) and special cable "kit" ($250). Are
these truly special, or are they just generic parts?
The addendum to my Mon post:
I forgot to mention there are two cgi scripts available to display
the output of your Mon reports. One is monshow which comes in the mon
package (change the filename to monshow.cgi, put it in your cgi-bin
directory and you're good to go) and the other is mon.cgi. Both are easy to
set up, mon.cgi is much more feature rich, and intimidating, for those of us
who aren't programmers. If you're interested I'll leave my cgi-bin
accessable for a little while so you can take a look. It's at:
http://nmr3.chem.indiana.edu/cgi-bin/mon.cgi
and it's even readable in Lynx.
