MO disk problem

Dear members,

Do you see any chance to recover data from a MO disk which accidentally
became unmountable due to I/O error? As a little bit of a surprise, this
I/O error upon mounting attempt reproducibly occurs to one specific side
of one specific disk only (so far). (Fortunately, we have another copy
of the unaccessible data.)

Config: Sun Ultra 30, Maxoptix T5-2600 drive, Sony EDM-2300B disk

Any ideas are welcome, I'll post summary on request.
