I have two XL-300 consoles available to deserving parties for the
cost of shipping only.
If you just want a couple of the boards or the hard drives, that
is fine.
Alas, the r2d2 magnets are not available. We wheeled one - at
field - from one building to another via elevators, ramps, and a
gauntlet or two of steel-bedecked
hallways-in-the-midst-of-construction-hell and got to the new
home without incident (i.e., no quench). A couple of good close
calls came when steel doors that were shut but not latched
suddenly crashed into the magnet (product endorsement: Depends
Undergarments, not just for the elderly!).
We only whacked out a couple of computer monitors as we wheeled
our 7 Tesla asphixiation bomb down the hall. Cycling the power
fixed the ones we knew about.
And yes, we did ride in the elevator with it.
Boiloff is back to normal after a couple of hours in the new home.
Our other magnet would make a mighty fine doorstop, or (and I like
this suggestion the most) a really nice barbecue (with the help
of a Sawzall). Other more tasteless suggestions run along the lines
of using the magnet as a buoy to mark the site of a certain
high-profile plane crash near here...
Anyways, I can send boards and maybe even a probe your way if you
think the thing will help you make the world a better place. Let
me know.
