I ran across this article in a non-work related newsgroup (B5
moderated) (The original thread was on "what to do with the AOL free 50
hours CDs" (don't ask me why that was being discussed in a B5 group))

Eh, Hum, we will now begin...
The Ultimate Story -
Seems my husband liked to dumpster grub behind the old Tymeshare (or
something like that) buildings. They used old hard drives (well, they
were relatively new then). You know the ones 14 inches, removable
media, made by Control Data? Anypath, when they would crash, they
would be trashed. We got lots.
The media disks themselves would make lovely clocks, especially the
ones with the pretty crash marks on them.
The covers on the other hand are fantastic. You cut the center spline
off, and use them for chip bowls. The magnetic rings in the middle
will hold a steel dip bowl quite securely. And old timers just die
when they recognize them <g>.
Hey, I live and work in the Silicon Valley. Home of Fry's, the place
that sells chips and chips (computer and potato). Gotta lovit.

"You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I
thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the
terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them?
So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of
the universe." Marcus to Franklin in Babylon 5
