Hi Genevieve,
One must be careful with sample prep and be sure that the tubes are clean.
A lot of times, depending on the supplier, the tubes are coated with oil to
protect them. They need to be cleaned thoroughly before use. This would be
but one possible source. Regards, John \\\

Subject: [AMMRL] 1.7mm NMR tubes contaminants

Hello all,
I hope you are enjoying your summer.

I'm running into a roadblock. I would like to see if I can detect very low
concentration (uM range) of butyrate in plasma using my Bruker 600MHz
spectrometer equipped with a TCI 1.7mm micro-cryoprobe. Therefore I have to
use the 1.7mm NMR tubes. However, when I ran my 100uM Butyrate control sample
I noticed way more peaks than expected. See attached file. I decided to check
first the D2O. I used two different lots of D2O from one company and one lot
from another company. I still see the same extra peaks. Therefore, the extra
peaks have to come from the 1.7mm tubes. Has anyone seen this before?
If yes, how did you deal with these extra peaks and 1.7mm tubes handling?
Thanks in advance for any advices and inputs! Greatly appreciated.

Best,
Geneviève
