Hi All,
The BLABBH500/100 200-600 linear broadband pulse power amplifier in the AVANCE
NEO system of our 600 MHz NMR instrument shows the error messages below
and acquisition is immediately stopped on the first scan of the 1H experiment.
Cannot run single acquisition
Mismatch fault general gating fault
Emergency stop activated
Transmit RF power was detected in receive mode. EmStop activated (hot switch
protection)
We tried to troubleshoot the error by replacing the 1H RF cable and changing
the probe head but it persists. Bruker confirms the amplifier is broken and
advises us its replacement that would cost us around 47k $. Has anyone of
you ever experienced and resolved this kind of problem? Does anyone know
if the Bruker factory repairs broken parts also for customers or sells
refurbished parts at a discounted price?
On searching for the mismatch fault in amplifiers user manuals, I could find
the information below:
A mismatch indicates when the max. reflected power limit has been reached.
Excess of reflected power. The mismatch value is the ratio between the reflected
power value and the forward power value. its l imitation range is from 1% to 100%
and its value is updated every 100us. The electronic protection circuitry has been
designed to protect against more than 50% reflected power (mismatch when VSWR ≥ 6).
The LED will light whenever the reflected power is above a specified level.
This level corresponds at maximum power to a VSWR (Voltage Wave Standing Ratio) of 6
which corresponds to a 50% reflection of forward power.
