NMR Facility Manager (Director)
Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY) anticipates hiring, subject to approval, an NMR Facility Director to replace the retiring Director, beginning about Fall, 2007.
Facility instruments consist of : JEOL 400 MHz, Varian INOVA 500MHZ equipped for liquids and solids, Bruker Avance 500 MHz with C/H cryoprobe, and to be delivered in Fall, 2007, Bruker Avance 600MHz, 4 channel instrument with triple resonance cryoprobe. The Director is in charge of: all aspects of instrument operation, training of users, collaborative research with faculty, instrument maintenance, budgeting, and assisting in proposal preparation. A strong background in chemistry, and experience in 1D, 2D, and 3D techniques, including those for small molecules as well as biopolymers and assemblies is required. The facility is also supported by a departmental Electronics Engineer, and a Computer Systems Expert. This is a permanent, state funded position with excellent fringe benefits. We expect a starting salary to be in the range of $65,000 to $85,000 commensurate with experience, but a higher salary may be possible for a truly superb candidate.
