Here's a summary of what I found regarding replacement of sync-on-green
monitors for a Gemini.
Their are several options to replace these old sync-on-green monitors. The
older SGI and Sun monitors with the 13W3 connector will work if you adapt
the connector. Older SGI monitors are available at
http://www.mashek.com/.
Many mfrs. make sync-on-green monitors in an LCD flat-panel design that go
for ~$400-500. CRT monitors are available with sync-on-green in the higher
end 19" and 21" sizes for $1000-1500. There is a very useful web page
intended for Play Station gamers at
http://playstation2-linux.com/sog.php
that lists very many old monitors that will or will not sync-on-green based
on user-reported testing. There is an Australian company making a converter
at
http://www.highway.net.au/parts/converters/2715.html. The converter is
~$200, but gets you back to normal, cheap VGA monitors. Also, many if not
most SONY products will sync-on-green, but you should check the individual
model to be sure. For refurbished monitors, try
http://www.themonitorguys.com/; they are also a very knowledgeable resource.
Also mentioned was the possibility to convert the Gemini to run on a Sun.
Many thanks to Joe Ortiz, Ivan Keresztes, Chris Robosky, and Keith Burke for
their assistance. Special thanks go to Tim Burrow at U. of Toronto for
sending me a monitor.
Cheers, Jerry

> Subject: Varian Gemini sync-on-green Monitor
Hi,
We have a Varian Gemini that needs a new monitor. The monitor must accept
the RGB sync-on-green signal, but the monitors I have bought in the past are
no longer made. Does anyone know of a current model of monitor that will
work on a Gemini?
Thanks, Jerry
