C13 peaks

Charles Anderson's problem with one peak in the C13 spectrum begs me to ask
about a recurring problem I am encountering, huge amounts of noise in my
spectrum.

In doing direct detection, proton decoupled C13, I "sometimes" get a noise
band that is about 40 ppm wide and moves about. I have a Varian Unity 500 and
I am using an indirect detection probe. I first wondered if it was due to a
new control tower at the airport 10 miles away (125.7 MHz is an aviation
frequency). I cannot find out what frequency the tower uses. However, one
thing I have noticed, when I switched to my broad band probe the noise went
away!

Any thoughts?
