--- The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at San Diego State University (SDSU) is searching for an NMR spectroscopist to oversee the operation of the SDSU NMR Facility. The candidate should have at least a PhD degree in Chemistry or related field along with commensurate experience in NMR spectroscopy. Responsibilities include the maintenance and servicing (or coordination of servicing) of four or more NMR spectrometers. The spectrometers are Bruker and Varian/Agilent and include a wide range of probes for both solution and solid-state sample analysis. The incumbent shall fill NMR magnets with cryogens, perform calibrations, diagnose/solve hardware and software problems, upgrade hardware and software and maintain an archive database of NMR data. The incumbent is also responsible for helping professors, lecturers and TAs in teaching upperĀ division capstone laboratory courses and training students to use spectrometers. As part of his/her training responsibility, the incumbent will also provide support to students and faculty in their research by helping design NMR experiments, including pulse sequences, train faculty and students in the use of the NMR spectrometers, assist faculty and students in acquiring and analyzing NMR data and provide NMR analysis for industry and other outside institutions. It is also expected that the incumbent will contribute to or initiate preparing and submitting both research and instrument grant proposals, in collaboration with faculty. --- https://careers.sdsu.edu/sd/en-us/job/494936/nmr-lab-manager-instructional-support-technician-iii Best, Bennett Addison, NRELReceived on Fri Jan 31 2020 - 09:49:06 MST
