Hello All:

After a full week of troubleshooting acquisition problems with one of my Inova consoles ( 10.5KHz IF, Motorola 68K CPU), I determined that the problem was actually a bad backplane in the digital cardcage. The Part Number on the Card Cage itself (entire aluminum box) is: Vector Electronics, Inc. Model# 72-1135 Rev. 3. I swapped the cardcage from a working console, but now I have to get that other console working again.

A wonderful person at Vector Electronics, who helped design the original INOVA backplane in the late 1980s, is still working there, and he said they still have to parts to replace the connectors and terminating resistor-banks and capacitors, and can even test the J1 portion of the VME Bus (pretty amazing, actually). However, I'm trying to cover all of my bases and get the instrument back up and running ASAP, so if anyone has a Cardcage from a decomissioned INOVA console, and they would be willing to part with it, please let me know. Of course, I really only need the backplane board, but it's somewhat of a pain to remove, so I would be happy to receive the entire cardcage if that's easier. I can pay for shipping, and a reasonable price for the part as well.

In my troubleshooting, it became very clear that I also have a very marginal RefGen board on one of my 10.5 KHz INOVA consoles, so I'm going to need to find one of these as well. (Varian Part# 00-992096-01 .. probably any revision).

Anyone who has such parts recovered from decommissioned consoles, and would be willing to part with them, please let me know.

Of course, I will check with Agilent, and also with the other Used Instrument and aftermarket support vendors as well. I'm just trying to cover all of my bases as quickly as possible.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

-Rich Shoemaker
