Dear AMMRL members,

Thanks for all of your advice that made it possible for us to move our Bruker Avance 300 NMR system without powering down. We moved it about 75 feet down the hall to a new room. I was worried about the metal door frames with not much clearance on the sides, but it was no problem. We used 5 people to lift it while two others placed the casters under. The casters were actually snowmobile dollies that looked like this http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/410NKgqePCL.jpg We moved the whole thing down the hall, console still connected. Photos are in a facebook album below.

I want to say a big big *thank you* to the 20-25 people on this list who wrote to me with very detailed accounts of their own moves. It gave me confidence that we could do it ourselves and save a lot of money. I am a med chemist, not an nmr expert, and have been more-or-less the caretaker of this instrument since 1998 in three locations around Seattle. This will be the 4th location technically, and the easiest move. And thanks to the keepers of the AMMRL user group list. It was extremely valuable to me to have access to all the NMR expertise.

Here are some photos of the move:
