AMMRLers:
Mark Nanny and I are looking for a postdoc with expertise in NMR to work
on a biocorrosion project as indicated in the notice below. The pay and
group association would be through Mark's group at OU, but the NMR work
would be carried out at OSU, so a candidate would need to be willing and
able to travel, and possibly live between Norman and Stillwater (which are
about 80 miles apart). We have proposed using both solid-state and
liquid-state NMR, including HR-MAS, to characterize biofilms, extracellular
polymeric substance, and their components. At the bottom of the notice is
Mark's email address, to which applications should be sent.

Position description:
A 12-month postdoctoral position, with an option for a second year renewal,
is available at the University of Oklahoma and in close collaboration with
Oklahoma State University. The overall project focuses on elucidating the
fundamental microbiological, chemical and physical principles underlying
biocorrosion as driven by biofuels in order to design the next generation of
degradation-resistant biofuels. The research efforts for this position
focus on using advanced NMR techniques and confocal fluorescence laser
microscopy to characterize the chemical and structural nature of biofilms
responsible for biocorrosion occurring in hydrocarbon fuel tanks. We are
seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with a demonstrated aptitude
for practical experimental work, excellent written communication skills and
independence. The appointee is expected to be self-motivated and to work
effectively within an interdisciplinary research team.

Minimum qualifications:
· Ph.D. in chemistry, microbiology, environmental engineering or
science, or a related field.

· Expertise in NMR spectroscopy.

· Experience in one or more of these areas useful: CFLM, biofilms,
and anaerobic microbiology.

· Preference will be given to applicants showing strong interest in
the application of spectroscopy to microbiological biofilm processes and
having knowledge of both liquid-state and solid-state NMR spectroscopy.

Application:
· A statement of interests describing your background and interests
related to the project,

· A CV including a full publication list

· The names and contact information of three references.
