AMMRL: random phase offsets in Varian FID - problem solved

AMMRLers,

Thanks for all the suggestions. The problem was in fact with the PTS620 in
my console. I borrowed another PTS620 and that fixed the problem. I opened
up the bad unit and in the back there were a very hot rectifier diode in
the switched power supply (it had discolored the board metal nearby). It
may be due to a bad component within the PTS620, but I have an electronics
technician here that is working on it now. If only Varian didn't want
$12,900 for a replacement (the price is $23k+ without the swap), I would
just have it overnighted to me.

Again, thanks for the suggestions, which were mostly centered around power
supply problems and PTS unit stuff. I love the AMMRL!

Jeff
