The individual in this role will be a member of the global Molecular Spectroscopy team of Analytical Sciences and will provide expertise in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to support Research and Development and Manufacturing projects on the Gulf Coast.

> The candidate will develop and apply NMR methodology for characterization of polymeric materials, interpret NMR spectra to identify and characterize materials, develop and improve NMR methodology, and participate in project teams for problem solving using NMR spectroscopy. The candidate will also lead projects related to the characterization of a diverse mix of organic and inorganic materials as well as polymers using 1D and 2D NMR, often in collaboration with experts in other analysis techniques.

> The laboratory contains 5 spectrometers: four 400 MHz systems and one 500 MHz system along with solid state NMR capabilities. NMR systems used include Bruker, Varian, and JEOL.

> The candidate will be an active participant in the global NMR technology team which consists of approximately 12 practitioners. This team is responsible for identification and development of new NMR technology and advancements of existing methodology which will provide value for the company.

> This role commonly interfaces with the Research and Development, Technical Sales, and Manufacturing functions. As such the individual must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to function effectively in a multifunctional team environment.

> The candidate must possess the right combination of theoretical and practical knowledge in order to effectively implement solutions and solve problems. The candidate should have a strong record of external publications (papers, conference presentations, patents) supporting their NMR background.

> PhD in Analytical Chemistry or Chemistry with a focus in NMR. A demonstrated ability to apply advanced NMR techniques is required. Good breadth of general, organic and polymer chemistry principles and practices is also necessary.

> Minimum graduate school training and experience in advanced NMR spectroscopy technique development and practice. Experience in polymer analysis, polymer science, and with solid state NMR is a plus.
