networking SUNs

Dear AMMRLers,

Has anyone out there sucessfully networked two SUNs via ethernet cards in
similar fashion as one would to the console? Here's the deal: I have an
Ultra5 (currently the spectrometer's host computer) which has an unused PCI
adapter in it, and an older unused Sparc 4 which has the two original
ethernet ports, one coax, the other 10/100BASE T. I would like to network
these directly, since they are physically less then 10ft apart, instead of
having the IT people add a new network line. I took a stab at it without
sucess. Has anyone else done this who could comment?

Best regards,

Neal
