Dear Colleagues,
I am attempting, without success, to remotely access the Spinsight
software that runs on the Sun host of my Varian Infinity-400 using the
Exceed X-server package from my PC. I use XDM to open a CDE desktop with
the window manager running on the Sun under Solaris 2.6 with
TCP-wrappers. The desktop applications run normally, but Spinsight (and
acc) exits immediately with the message "Error: Can't open display:
<my_PC_name>:0.0". I haven't found any other error message in any of the
logs on either the Sun or the PC. The problem seems to be some specific
interaction between Exceed and Spinsight, as at least one other PC X-server
works properly. I am using Exceed version 6.0.1 running under Windows NT
4.0 SP5, connecting via an ethernet LAN to the Sun. If you have made
Exceed work with Spinsight, please get in touch to let me in on the
secret. I will summarize to the list if a cure is found.
